Here for you. Here for pets.
Pets are our passion. So if you can't take care of yours anymore, let us know. Found a feral cat? Bring it here. Looking for professional dog training? Just ask us. Here at the AHS we offer countless services to aid any pet in need, any time.
Caring for a pet properly is hard work and can be too much for some people. But not us. Wanting a better life for your pet is no crime; just bring your pet in to be evaluated for health and temperament. If we can place them in our Adoption Program, we will.
The Austin Humane Society wants to save as many animals as possible. But we are a limited intake shelter, so due to space limitations we are unable to accept every animal.
If you would like to surrender your animal to the Austin Humane Society, you must make an appointment. Call (512) 646-7387, Ext. 104, or email us at email@example.com. Please include in your message, your pet’s:
- Reason for surrender
We will get in touch with you within one business day to discuss the surrender process, or to give you other options if we’re unable to accept your pet.
In the meantime, please check out our other resources to help you find a solution to any difficulties you may be encountering with your animal:
* ASPCA’s article on Re-homing Your Dog.
* Our articles on cat and dog behavior.
If you have encountered a stray animal, please contact Austin Animal Center, as that is the best option for reuniting the animal with their owner.

Feral cats are increasingly becoming a problem in Austin. Luckily, there’s our Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Program. We aim to reduce the number of homeless cats in our community through a free Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiative.
